We can look back on a very successful and well attended Dutch iMOD user day.

In the morning sessions recent and ongoing iMOD-developments were presented.

  • The development of iMOD WQ (water quality). A first bèta version of iMOD WQ will become available in the coming months.
  • As part of the research program Lumbricus, iMODFLOW, MetaSWAP and D-Flow FM are coupled to allow integrated modelling of groundwater and hydraulic surface water.
  • Sweco announced a basic version of their iMOD validator, developed for pre- and post-processing with iMOD. It facilitates checking all modelling steps in a transparent way, all steps are logged and the workflow is reproducible.
  • Coming up: the next release of iMOD, version 4.4. New features were demonstrated.
  • In two hands-on sessions participants could get acquainted with the new MetaSWAP Analyser and extended IPEST-features.

The afternoon sessions focussed on Modflow 6.

  • Deltares shared plans and strategy for the next generation iMOD, the iMOD-X project.
  • Several organizations (Wageningen Environmental Research (Alterra), Brabant Water and Deltares) shared their experiences and plans with Modflow6. Keywords were fresh-salt, local grid refinement, large scale global models and scripting.
  • How to continue with the next generation of iMOD? In 3 parallel sessions we shared ideas on 1) general requirements, 2) the position of scripting and 3) preferences regarding user interfaces.

Thank you for attending and contributing to the Dutch iMOD User Day. We hope to meet you again next year or at the International iMOD User Day in November 2019.
