bug message reminder

When adressing a model crash or bug, please remember to include an entire model setup in your post that reproduces the crash or exposes the bug. Also add the XBlog.txt file. This is necessary information for people that are trying to help you. Including your model setup can be achieved by adding the zipped run directory (excluding output) as an attachment to the post.

Submerged Breakwater in Xbeach

Dear all,

I set up a submerged breakwater for the beach profile modelling. The submerged breakwater was configured using the hard layer option.
I found that no erosion occurred over the breakwater as we expected, but there is still significant sediment transport over the crest of submerged breakwater even the bed level in the surrounding area is much lower than the breakwater crest level. Does it mean that the hard layer only stops erosion, but accretion can still occur? How can I completely block the sediment movement cross the submerged breakwater?

Hi Baoxing,

If you use the hard layer it will just limit sediment supply, so yes you can still get accretion. The only way to prevent this is to make your structure much higher than the surrounding bathymetry (e.g. emergent).
