Spatially Variable Sedcal and bedfriccoeff in 1D model

Hello Everyone,
I am trying to model some dune erosion in an area that has very well vegetated dunes as well as recently constructed, un-vegetated dunes. My issue is that when I get one category to show good behavior, the other is modeled poorly. In my research online I saw that some people using the 2D model have used spatially varying sedcal to represent features like vegetation and pavement. I was wondering if anyone could point me towards a source which explains how to set up these sort of conditions in a 1D model?
Thanks for the help,
