Source code download ?

Dear all,

I am working at Tainan Hydraulics Laboratory (http://www.thl.ncku.edu.tw/english/service/s_physical.htm).

Recently we have a project on sand dune erosion subject to a Typhoon wave. Along with the large-scale experiment, interest also lies to numerical simulation for further extension.

I am a new user who would like to compile Xbach code to use or to modify. However, I am a little bit confused where the code is?.. since I found that there are many folders containing source code (*.F90). Would anyone please give me a hand ?

Thank you in advance,

Ting-Chieh

Dear Ting-Chieh,

You can find source-code files in the directories "branches", "tags" and "trunk".

The source-code from the "trunk" directory is what you want. This is the most recent version of XBeach. Please download the entire directory.

The "branches" directory contains a variety of experimental versions of XBeach for a variety of purposes. In this directory we experiment with new functionalities.

The "tags" directory contains old versions of XBeach that were worth saving. These should be the "official" releases from the past, although at the moment they are not so official yet.

Regards,
Bas

Dear Bas,

I am indebted to your quick answers and comments. Will try to download them and give them a try using a Fortran compiler. Thanks emoticon

Dear Bas,

I downloaded the source codes from "trunk" folder. However, it was not allowed to be compiled using a personal PC; it has thousands bugs.

What I am using is Intel fortran 10.0 + Microsoft Visual Studio 2008

I would like to try some examples shown in ?trunk_Default 2011207170001?on wave run-up or wave propagation.

Could you or anyone please send a copy which works for me? If any examples are available I would be appreciated.

Thank you in advance,

I won't say XBeach is bug-free, but thousands of bugs seems to me a bit of an exaggeration :-)

We are using Intel Fortran Compiler 11.1 + MS Visual Studio 2008 on a WIN32 platform. That works fine. XBeach is an open-source model and there is no official support for specific compilers. Whether a compiler is supported or not mainly depends on whether the compiler is used by the community. If you want to use a specific compiler that does not work instantly, please find out what's wrong and send us a fix.

You can find some pre-compiled versions of XBeach on this page:

http://oss.deltares.nl/web/xbeach/source-code-and-exe

You can find examples on this page:

http://oss.deltares.nl/web/xbeach/documentation

Still, no guarantees!
